Manchester Google Search Terms – Higher or Lower?

Google is known for being the UK’s search engine giant, everything you need to know can be found on the internet using Google. We use it so much that so many searches and search terms have been recorded in Google’s Keyword Planner tool. Marketing companies and businesses use the Keyword Planner to get an idea of the different search trends amongst potential prospects, however in this new game, Google search terms have been taken to a whole new level.

The Game Higher or Lower has taken to the online community and is there for a good cause too. The digital company Code Computerlove have created their own version of the childhood game in support of the charity Forever Manchester.

Forever Manchester is a local Manchester charity that provides support and funds for thousands of projects in the community across the city of Manchester and beyond. Since the recent tragedy with the Manchester Terror attack in Manchester Arena, more people have been coming up with light-hearted and fun ways to support Manchester and the families involved in the terrible incident.

In Particular, this game created by Code uses the same rules as the original Higher Lower Game, but instead focuses on topics that are related to the great city of Manchester. It uses Google search terms and statistics to ask the player which term they think has more searches on Google.

The game has been shown to make comparisons like “McVities” has 22,200 average monthly searches. Does “Ian Curtis” have higher or lower searches than “McVities”.

Other comparisons include Manchester City vs. Media City, Sir Alex Ferguson vs. Liam Gallagher, and “Champagne Supernova” from Oasis vs. “Voodoo Ray” from Hacienda House Classic.

The creators of the game say they designed the game to be specific references to Manchester’s famous artists, musicians, footballers, celebrities, food and much more to do with Mancunian culture.

Charles Burdett from Code Computerlove who designed the game says, “As a Manchester business we’re keen to support the local community via charitable organisations in the region.”

"We worked with Forever Manchester to identify the hundreds of search terms that relate to our great city and were quite astonished ourselves at just how popular our Manchester icons are.”

He then goes on to express his delight at the success of the game and the response he got from users all across the nation.

"With the Higher Lower Game being such a phenomenal success, reaching millions of people who seem to really love the moments of delight and astonishment when the answer to an in-game comparison is simply unbelievable.”

The game has been such a success in fact, that it has been played more than half a billion times. Not only that, but within its first week of being released it gained the number one spot in the iOS App Store charts.

No matter where you live or grew up, the game is still fun to play. It opens up conversations between people in the room and will actually shock you as it reveals which search term got more searches.
